FEED THE RIGHT EMOTION

—The Difference Maker
WHAT EMOTION ARE YOU FEEDING?

CHOOSE TO FEED YOUR FAITH AND COURAGE.
In life, both faith and fear will arise within you, and you choose which one will prevail. Someone once wrote,
Two natures beat within my breast,
The one is foul, the other blessed.
The one I love, the other I hate;
The one I feed will dominate.
The thing is, both of those emotions will always be present in you.
The emotion you continually feed is the one that will dominate your life.
You can’t expect fear simply to disappear. If you continually focus on your fears, entertain them, and give in to them, they will increase. The way to ultimately overcome them is to starve them. Don’t give your fears any of your time or energy. Don’t feed them with gossip or negative news shows or frightening movies. Focus on your faith and feed it. The more energy and time you give it, the stronger it becomes. And anytime you feel afraid of doing something but go ahead and do it anyway, you will be reprogramming your attitude. When you feel fear, it will mean “go” instead of “stop,” and “fight harder” instead of “give up.”

Daily Scripture

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope

Leaders Leading Leaders

IF THEY RESPECT YOU,
THEY FOLLOW
Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him. MARK 1:17–18
People don’t follow others by accident. They follow individuals whose leadership they respect. And the more leadership ability a person has, the more quickly he or she recognizes leadership—or its lack—in others. When people get together for the first time as a group, take a look at what happens. As they start interacting, the leaders in the group immediately take charge. They think in terms of the direction they desire to go and who they want to take with them. At first, people may make tentative moves in several different directions, but after the people get to know one another, it doesn’t take long for them to recognize the strongest leaders and to follow them.
In time, people in the group get on board and follow the strongest leaders. Either that or they leave the group and pursue their own agendas.
