The Real Seven Wonders of the World

A group of students were studying geography and they were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World.

Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes:

  1. Egypt’s Great Pyramids
  2. Taj Mahal
  3. Grand Canyon
  4. Panama Canal
  5. Empire State Building
  6. St. Peter’s Basilica
  7. China’s Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one quiet little girl hadn’t turned in her paper yet. She asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my
mind because there were so many.”

The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.”

The girl hesitated, then read, “I think The Real Seven Wonders of the World are:”

  1. To Touch
  2. To Taste
  3. To See
  4. To Hear
  5. To Run
  6. To Laugh
  7. And to Love.

It is too easy for us to look at the exploits of man as “wonders” while we overlook all God has done, regarding them as merely “ordinary.” May you be reminded today of those things which are truly wondrous.

Daily Scripture

Author: Comrade in Arms

I was homeless once in a faraway place. I still ran…8 miles a day up a small mountain about 6 days a week. I did it so that I would be ready for the life that belonged to me when it came back.
I was invited to take whatever I wanted from a garden that grew near me, so I picked leaves and herbs and flowers and peas and beans and even things I didn’t like very much that none of the other tenants of the shelter I lived in took advantage of. There were at least 100 of us maybe more, the garden was all to myself. I did it to keep my body and mind as healthy and strong as I could on my food stamp budget so I would be able to spring into action and be a part of society when I was given <–(and I use that word loosely) the chance. Instead of prescriptions for depression, I asked the VA to prescribe the vitamins I couldn’t afford. Avoid the comfort food, stay away from the donuts & cake & bread and ESPECIALLY if they are free.

If you are challenged, if you are hurting, if you are having a difficult time, take care of yourself in spite of your circumstances, eat well, get good sleep, exercise, have beautiful conversations with yourself, and treat yourself as if you are getting ready for the performance of a lifetime, it will be the best thing you could ever choose to do for yourself. your moment will come, and you’ll be ready for it. Keep going, you will live again, you will love again.
